Mr. Fettuccini and Ms. Goulash celebrated New Year Eve on Ireland time (7pm est). We don't do midnight.
Mr. Fettuccini: Me and my gypsy lady did our celebratin' on Boomer time last night. We go out early and come home late (at least by 9pm). It doesn't take much to wind up this little Italian but once you pull the key out, it ain't goin' back in till 24 hours later. So, when I wind down, that's a day for me. Anyways, when Ms. Goulash said we'd be celebratin' an Irish New Year I thought we was goin' to an Irish Pub. The only thing that came to mind was our last adventure with Bangers and Mash. I never had a good experience with Bangers and Mash. When we went to an Irish Pub, I figured I got this, cause I know the code to get in...Bangers and Mash. So I banged on the door till I almost mashed my fingers but nobody answered. They was all inside singin' "Danny Boy". Well, I thought they was lookin' for Danny and I started yellin' "hey, he's out here wit us". They just kept singin'. But I digress...we all brought somethin' to eat to the party at Gypsy Karen's. My wise guy pal Little Richie brought Irish Soda Bread Biscuits. They was really good but I never got any soda to wash them down. One of the other gypsy gals, Peggs, brought a dish called Irish Stew. It was delish but with a name like Irish Stew I wasn't sure if I was supposed to sit and sulk a while before puttin' a spoonful in my mouth. Hey! When in Rome as the sayin' goes!
Ms. Goulash: Dahlings! This gypsy never prepared an Irish dish before. I roast everything on our campfire. Roasted lasagne is my signature dish. It's to die for Dahlings! However, I made pasties for the first time. Now, it's pronounced PAST TEES not PASTE TEES as one party goer Mikey kept calling it. Everyone knows that a proper gypsy doesn't do PASTE TEES. They would clash with our scarfs Dahlings! My fellow gypsy Karen was our hostess last night. She made a fabulous crock pot Reuben. She doesn't know it but I went back into the kitchen for seconds and thirds and then graciously accepted a bowl of leftovers which I put into my gypsy bag along with some figurines, artwork and campfire utensils. It's a gypsy thing....and very flattering to a gypsy hostess.
Mr. Fettuccini: The best part of the night was when all the gypsies, Ms. Goulash, Mary, Lisa, Karen, Peggs, Jana and Chicago Sue got in a circle and started singin' Auld Lang Syne. That was one of the best songs they didn't know the words to I ever heard.
Happy New Year to you's all !!
