Mr. Fettucini and Ms. Goulash love little treasures. We ate at a little treasure recently, Saigon Flavors, located at Waters and Stephenson in mid-town Savannah. Mr. Fettucini, fill us in:
Mr. Fettucini: Yo! Vietnamese food is not the same as Chinese food. Hey, Vietnam and China are two completely different countries. I almost went to Vietnam. When I was 18, I had to register for the draft. I convinced a friend of mine that we should go together to sign up. My friend wasn't too sure about doin' this but I convinced him that our number would be high and we would probably never get called. He agreed and so we signed up together. He got drafted and I didn't. That's how I almost went to Vietnam. Anyhow's, I ordered the spring rolls over rice vermicelli. Holy rice paddies! Saigon Flavors was right on with their flavor. I can only describe this dish with one word...WOW.
Ms. Goulash: Dahlings, if we were playing six degrees of Vietnam, my story would be that a friend of mine who is a mobile DJ once signed up with the USO to DJ for the servicemen in Vietnam. She sent me a stamp from Vietnam and that's about as close to Vietnam as I came, dahlings. I also ordered the spring rolls over rice vermicelli and was thrilled, dahlings.
